07.22.2017 – 07.23.2017 : Boots on the Ground Theatre & Stage Door Productions Present Grounded
July 22 @ 7:30 pm - July 23 @ 9:00 pm$12
Stage Door Productions is pleased to partner with the Myrtle Beach-based theatre company Boots on the Ground Theatre for our next fundraising venture. We are happy to host Boots on the Ground as they present GROUNDED, a thrilling one-woman show about drone warfare.
This production will play at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library HQ Theatre on July 22 at 7:30 PM and July 23 at 2:00PM. The play follows an ace fighter pilot who is reassigned to operating drones from a windowless trailer in Nevada after an unexpected pregnancy ends her career in the sky. Her 12-hour shifts hunting terrorists in the Middle East are followed by 12 hours at home, attempting to find stability within suburbia. As the pressure to track a high-profile target intensifies, the boundaries begin to blur between the desert she lives in and the one she patrols half a world away.
Winner of the Smith Prize for Political Theatre, George Brant’s GROUNDED pulses with ferocity, empathy, and lyricism while confronting the chasm between warfare and homecomings. The running time is 75 minutes with no intermission, and the production features strong language and mature themes. Both performances will feature a post-show discussion that responds to the issues surrounding veterans and the themes of Grounded, including parenthood and warfare, drone ethics, PTSD, identity, homecomings, stigmas, and more. The show will partner with local veterans and counselors to moderate the discussion after each performance.
Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at Stagedoorproductions.org
