Roy Laurence

Roy Laurence was a pioneer programmer of the Disco radio format in Philadelphia in the 1970s at the CBS FM station, WCAU-FM.  It was an award-winning, top rated station format marketed as “Fascinatin’ Rhythm.”

He was also top rated afternoon drive dj during the period, and made many personal appearances in area discos and night clubs promoting the station.

During his career, he worked programming and other on-air duties in a variety of markets, including Philly, New York, Washington, DC and Indianapolis.

Roy has been dj-ing STUDIO NINETY-FIVE NINE on SuperHits 95.9 for the last couple of years. In his show, he recalls the great dance superhits of the 70s, 80s and 90s.  It airs Sunday nights from 10 – 12.  It is also streamed online at and on the station’s smartphone apps (see the Apple store and the Google Play store to download the apps for free).

Roy is married, has four children and six grandchildren; he has lived in the Fredericksburg area for the last 20 years.
