I “officially” got into radio back in the mid-90s … but my mother would tell you that it happened when I got a Mr. Microphone for Christmas. (For those that don’t know, Mr. Microphone was a toy from the late 70’s and early 80’s that allowed you to talk on the radio.)
I was that nerdy kid that would come home from school and cue up the cassettes of the songs I was going to play that day, and I wouldn’t come out of my room until my “show” was done. I still haven’t figured out why my mother put up with it. I’ve been on the air locally in 13 states, and, at one point, on a nationally syndicated show.
I love working for Thunder because the listeners are awesome. They’re active in station events, and I will never forget how they really went out of their way to make me feel welcome when I first moved to the Fredericksburg area in the summer of 2014.
I also love that Thunder plays classic country. You’d be amazed at how many country stations have forgotten their roots!
Finally, I love the area. My wife and I are big baseball fans, so having lots of Major and Minor league teams within a reasonable driving distance is HUGE!
