Saturday, June 11, 2022, | 9AM-10AM Conversation & a Cruise: Fish of the Potomac River The event will begin at St. Clement’s Island Museum with an introduction and distribution of exploration materials. During the water cruise, we’ll talk about native fish of the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay as well as how to identify those on your own. Learn about conserving our waterways and keeping them clean and safe for our underwater friends. The tour will end on St. Clement’s Island and from there you can return to mainland or check out Blackistone Lighthouse. Participants will even be able to make a fun souvenir to take home!
Saturday, July 16, 2022, | 9AM-10AM Conversation & a Cruise: Pirates of the Bay On this cruise, you will learn about what pirate life was like on the Potomac. The event will begin at St. Clement’s Island Museum where we climb aboard and discuss the history of pirates in the area. Explore for yourself what it was like to be a pirate! The tour will end on St. Clement’s Island and from there you can return to mainland or check out Blackistone Lighthouse. Participants will even be able to make a fun souvenir to take home!
Saturday, August 13, 2022, | 9AM-10AM Conversation & a Cruise: Boating Through Time Your water tour guide will discuss the evolution of boats that traveled along the Potomac River throughout time. The event will begin at St. Clement’s Island Museum and will start with an introduction to water travel as we board our own water taxi. During the cruise, there will be a discussion about boats used by the Native Peoples, the English settlers, military heroes, and modern sailors. The tour will end on St. Clement’s Island and from there you can return to mainland or check out Blackistone Lighthouse. Participants will even be able to make a fun souvenir to take home!
More Information: -All participants will also be given materials to explore St. Clement’s Island -Participants are free to bring food to have a picnic on the island after the cruise -ALL MINORS MUST be accompanied by an adult.
