Fraternal Order of Eagles/Red Cross Blood Drive
December 20 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pmFree
I would like to start by copying a post from John’s daughter, Mandy, in reference to our grandson Gabe. The accident happened July 13, 2019 in California where they live:
It has taken me awhile to be able to write this, but on Saturday Gabe was involved in horrible accident while driving a tractor. An amazing off duty fireman driving by saw the tractor at an odd place and stopped to investigate and found Gabe. Gabe was able to call 911 but the man that stopped told them that he needed Lifeflight. Gabe had some very awesome surgeons working on him for 30 hours when he arrived. He received multiple blood transfusions saving his life.
Now Gabe is doing much better. For his privacy, I don’t want to go into too much detail, but he has made huge progress. He still has a very long road ahead of him though. The many Drs and nurses (of course) have been beyond amazing
This is the worst thing that has ever happened to us- but we have amazing family and friends that have lifted us up and held us together.
The outpouring of love has been overwhelming. Gabe has been put on countless prayer chains, which obviously worked. Our friends immediately had Sam taken care of with snacks, food deliveries, gift cards for food, and offers to take him out for the day. We had friends bring us food and waited with us for hours while Gabe was in surgery. Both of my work families had meals delivered, care packages, donations and blankets dropped off. We would not have held it together without all the love pouring in for Gabe and us. We are so grateful for all of you.
Gabe’s life was saved by many people that donated blood. If you are moved to do something for him, please consider donating blood at your local blood bank so other families can have the same miracle we did.
Words can not express how grateful we are to still have Gabe with us and all of the love being shown to us. We have the most amazing people in our lives.
The most recent post gave the details
“We are so extremely grateful for all the Drs and nurses at UCD. They literally saved Gabe’s life and hand. They will forever hold a piece of our hearts……31 days and 6 surgeries is enough. I am taking my boy home where he belongs”
If it wasn’t for blood donors, Gabe would not be with us today. Through this ordeal, he lost a kidney, broke his back and crushed his left arm.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
