Whitney Nell Stewart: The Past, Present, and Future of Southern Plantations September 19, 2024
Join Dr. Whitney Nell Stewart for a conversation about the complicated history and living legacies of southern plantations. Stewart is an associate professor of history and faculty of the Edith O’Donnell Institute of Art History at the University of Texas at Dallas. Her book, This Is Our Home: Slavery and Struggle on Southern Plantations won the 2024 James Broussard Best First Book Prize from the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic and the 2024 Ramirez Family Award for Most Significant Scholarly Work from the Texas Institute of Letters.
Evening with an Expert will take place at the FAM (907 Princess Anne St), from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm and will conclude with a light reception with the speaker. Lecture tickets are $20 for non-members and $10 for members. Visit
