The James Madison VFW Post 2217 is continuing its VFW Auxiliary Initiative, with a goal of re-establishing a Post Auxiliary. The mission is to complete the steps necessary to re-establish the Auxiliary to help Veterans, Military members and their families, as well as the Orange County Community. As this is a continuing effort by the Post to re-establish a Post Auxiliary, we will be opening the Post on 26 March 2022 from 10:00am until 3:00pm to sign-up potential members for the Post’s Auxiliary. So, if you’re the family member of an eligible Veteran (see the attached VFW Eligibility photos) and are interested in helping us re-establish the Post Auxiliary or have any questions regarding eligibility, the Post will be open on Saturday, 26 March 2022, from 10:00am until 3:00pm. The Post is located at 19105 Brick Church Rd. Orange, VA 22960. At a minimum, we need at least 7 more new, eligible people to sign-up for this initiative to get State concurrence to re-establish the Auxiliary. Transferees are welcome to sign-up as well, however, according to the Auxiliary by-laws, they cannot be included as part of the 15 members needed to re-establish the Post’s Auxiliary. Official Paperwork needed includes but is not limited to a DD-214 (Discharge paperwork), Documentation of Hostile Fire Pay, Medal/Award Certificates/Citations, VFW membership card, or other documentation, bottom line for eligibility is, the Veteran you’re connected to must have been eligible to become, or was, a member of the VFW. The only exception to this eligibility requirement is if your connection is to a current member of VFW Post 2217. Remember, the VFW and the Auxiliary is a way to help Veterans, Service Members and their families, as well as the community.
