Although our compound bows are not made of yew wood like traditional English longbows, they can still help you aim for new goals this year! Archery instructor Chief Ranger Hillborn will show you the basics of archery including finding your draw length, proper safety and shooting techniques, and more! Participants must use park provided bows and arrows.
This New Year introductory program is FREE for all ages.
The age requirement is 10+ years old. This 1.5 hour program is limited to 6 participants. Pre-registration is required for this program, and you can register here.
Parents and guardians must remain with their children under 14 years old throughout the duration of the program.
On the date of the program, you must check in at the front desk inside the Visitor’s Center where the ranger on duty will sign you in and direct you to where the program is being held.
Make sure to wear weather appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes! Cold-weather gloves, scarves, and hats are highly recommended as you can still learn to shoot a bow n’ arrow while bundled up warm against the Winter weather. If the air temperature without windchill gets below 35 degrees F, the program will be cancelled.
