STAFFORD REGIONAL CHORAL SOCIETY
SINGS AND SWINGS IN SPRING CONCERT

Local chorus celebrates the 1940s Big Band/Swing era

Stafford Regional Choral Society (SRCS) will present “Sing, Sing, Sing!” a program of swing/big band music, on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church (1201 Courthouse Road, Stafford). The concerts are free to the public.

SRCS is thrilled to continue its concert season with “Sing, Sing, Sing!” a choral concert celebrating those fabulous 1940s when music was live and on the air. Songs such as “In the Mood,” “Night and Day,” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” as well as medleys of familiar Gershwin, and Ellington standards will be presented in the style of a 1940s live radio broadcast. The concert features a full program of choral music along with a selection of soloists, including two performances by scholarship recipients past and current. “I am deeply honored to be able to direct this group of dedicated singers,” said Artistic and Music Director Jason Michael. “It’s a great pleasure presenting a full program of live music to the greater Stafford area.” The chorus will be accompanied by Cathy Hoskins, pianist; leading a seven-piece ‘big band.’

A freewill donation will be collected during the concerts on March 12th to support the SRCS Scholarship Program, which awards outstanding, local high school pianists, instrumentalists, and vocalists who may plan to continue music performance in college. SRCS recently awarded its 2023 scholarships to Ryan Leith, pianist, Ella Dover, vocalist, and Jamie Johnson, instrumentalist (trumpet).

The Stafford Regional Choral Society is a 501(c)(3) organization, under the direction of Jason J. Michael. Founded in 2001, the chorus of singers from Stafford and the surrounding area promotes choral music and performing arts education through its annual three-concert season.
