Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day

FreeLocally hosted by the non-profit Fredericksburg Trails Alliance, get out on the trails and bring your kid mountain biking! We will have different levels lead by different volunteers. Registration is required for our skills ride. Registration is limited and filling fast. Our lead volunteer is Dave Gaske and assistant leader Rob Mauro. Join Us Saturday, October 16th. Bring/Sign final registration at 9:30 am. Skills Ride runs from 10 am to 12pm. Prize Drawing and refreshments 12-12:30pm.
About this event.
The group skills ride will be leader led. Two hours will be spent learning basic off road riding skills and then using those skills on the trails around Mott’s Run. It is open to kids riding a multispeed bicycle. (BMX bikes are excluded.) You and your child(ren) will be paired in groups. The ride will include anything from 2 miles to 8 miles.
We are thankful for support of this event! Thank you Wegmans, Trek in Central Park, Olde Towne Bicycles in WestWood Center, and BikeWorks in downtown Fredericksburg!! Thank you to all our volunteers who have and continue to help us build and maintain trails and hold community events like this one!
Parents/guardians are encouraged to ride with their kids. Ride leaders will assist.
Parking.
Park in large gravel lot above marina. 6600 River Road, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401.
Equipment.
For equipment: multispeed off road bike. Typically this type of bike has larger tires with knobby tires and flat handlebars. Bikes need to be ready to ride. Consider visiting one of our local bike shops for a tune-up. We’ll will do a pre-ride group bike check but will not be able to perform repairs on site.

What if I need to purchase or check my equipment in preparation for this event? Visit one of our bicycle sponsors for this event. Let them know you are planning to ride on our locally hosted Take A Kid Mountain Biking day!
How far will we ride? Different groups will ride between 2 to 8 miles.
What kind of trail will we ride on? Mott’s is a well built trail with loops of various lengths. Terrain will mostly be flat with a few short climbs depending on length of ride. There will be rocks, logs and other minor obstacles.
How do I know if my registration is accepted and I get to participate in the group skills event/ride?
We will respond to you with an email that has the subject line “Ride Confirmed” and other details.
What if registration is full? You can asked to be put on a waitlist. Additionally, we will contact you to give you details about how you can still participate on your own and be registered for prizes.
What if I just want to learn more about FredTrails Alliance and/or support the mission? Contact us via messenger or show up to our “registration/learn more about FredTrails table” on October 16th between 10 and 12:30 pm.
