Dean Cedric Bernard Rucker: Mary Washington College’s AIDS Quilt November 21, 2024
Between 1991-2000, students and faculty of Mary Washington College came together to create the Mary Washington AIDS Quilts. Modeled after the NAMES Projects AIDS Memorial Quilt, this quilt features colorful, handmade panels commemorating loved ones impacted by HIV and AIDS and promoting awareness of the epidemic.
Join Dean Cedric Bernard Rucker, UVA’s Senior Associate Vice President and Dean of Students and former UMW Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Student Life to learn about the Mary Washington AIDS Quilt
and the AIDS movement in Fredericksburg.
Evening with an Expert will take place at the FAM (907 Princess Anne St), from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm and will conclude with a light reception with the speaker. Lecture tickets are $20 for non-members and $10 for members. Visit
