Experience the raw power and palpable intensity of this finalist for the Pulitzer Prize that tackles the parallel struggles of identity, family, and the American dream. Austin, a successful screenwriter, and his estranged brother Lee, a ne’er-do-well drifter, are collaborating on a new screenplay—each trying to prove that he can write a “truer” Western. Tensions rise and sparks fly as their roles reverse and the brothers grapple against becoming the worst version of the other. This modern and darkly funny Cain and Abel story provokes thought at every turn and will have you on the edge of your seat, making True West a must-see play by Sam Shepard, one of this country’s most visionary writers.
