This year we are shaking things up! Like the Grinch’s heart, SantaCon has grown and we are excited to share the changes for 2024:

  • More locations! Thanks to the holiday cheer you bring each year, other restaurants have taken notice and want to join in on the fun! We will now have at least 6 Downtown Fredericksburg locations participating in SantaCon.
  • An extra hour! With more locations, we will be extending SantaCon to end at 8:00pm.
  • Freedom to travel your own Santa Route! Your first location will be assigned, but after that, you can walk on your own. Rather than a strict group schedule, you now have the ability to hop to different participating SantaCon locations at your own pace.

We want all our Santas to return to the North Pole safe and sound this holiday season. Please plan ahead! Whether it be an Uber, Lyft, designated driver, or a friendly elf with a sleigh, it is important to us that you stay on the nice list and make it home safely!

If choosing the designated driver option, please CLICK HERE to review a map of Downtown Fredericksburg parking.

If you have any challenges walking to each location, please email info@bbbsfred.org so that we may accomodate you.

CVMA 27-2 Bull Run III

The CVMA is an Association of Veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who ride motorcycles as a hobby.  As a registered 501(c)(19) veterans’ charity, the mission of the CVMA is to support and protect those who have defended our country and our freedoms; Vets helping Vets.

This year Bull Run III is CVMA 27-2’s 13th annual fundraiser which will be held on July 20th, 2024 starting and finishing at Full Distance Brewing in Stafford, VA.  The first major battle of the American Civil War was the First Battle of Bull Run, the Second Battle of Bull Run occurred just a year later.  As an homage to the warriors that came before us, Bull Run III represents the “the mental Civil War,” the battle within.  Our efforts in helping Veterans have been concentrated on fighting Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury.

All proceeds from our 2024 Bull Run III fundraiser will go to two local 501(c)(3) organizations Willing Warriors and Leashes of Valor:

Located in Haymarket, Willing Warriors benefits Veterans by providing cost-free retreat stays and programs that assist wounded and ill service members, disabled veterans, and their families to reconnect.  In fact, Willing Warriors has given several of our own members and their families immeasurable steps towards their path to recovery through a stay at the Warrior Retreat.

Located in Fredericksburg, Leashes of Valor provides highly-trained service dogs to post-9/11 veterans to help with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) or military sexual trauma (MST), an underlying trauma to PTSD. Whenever possible, they source dogs from animal shelters and rescue organizations.

American Battlefield Trust Generations Revolutionary Event

An American Battlefield Trust Generations Event brings families together for an experience of history! You’re invited to gather your recruits—kids, grandkids, neighbors, and friends—and come be inspired by stories and activities from the Revolutionary War.

Registered adults and kids will have the opportunity to check-in and explore the Washington House and grounds from 1pm to 5pm on their own, and then gather for the program and activities from 2pm to 4pm.

250 years ago, American colonists – including George Washington – felt frustrated by British taxation and began to discuss uniting in common cause. Within a few years, the American Revolutionary War had begun, and Washington would eventually lead the Continental Army and its allies to victory, creating and defending the United States. The Generations Event will explore the causes of the conflict, Washington’s life and army, and the Declaration of Independence through exciting activities and interactive programs!

Charge toward independence as we learn to march, toss tea toward Boston Harbor, sign with a quill pen, wear a tricorn hat, listen to Revolutionary music, and re-discover details about the road to Revolution and George Washington’s life and leadership.

The event is free and open to all who come with someone of another generation; registration is required to waive admission costs to the historic site! The ideal ages are 6-17. The program and activities will be from 2pm to 4pm. Registered adults and kids will have access to the Ferry Farm grounds from 1pm to 5pm for on-your-own exploring.

Featuring:
• 1773 – The Boston Tea Party
• George Washington prepares for Revolution
• The school of the Revolutionary War soldier
• Signing Revolutionary documents
• Revolutionary War music
• Family Fun!

Wellness Workshop: Understanding Anxiety, Depression & Stress

Meeting the demands of our fast-paced lives can leave us feeling disconnected, depleted, and overwhelmed. In contrast, Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10, ESV). Are you living the abundant life that Jesus speaks of?

We invite you to address this question at our Wellness Workshop: Understanding Anxiety, Depression & Stress on Saturday, May 6 from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM at Ebenezer Church in Stafford. Join Christian Counselor Keith Priest for informative discussions about neuroscience, coping mechanisms, and the intersection of our relationship with Christ and mental health. Our conversations will illuminate the many ways in which faith can bring healing into every area of our lives. This event is open to ages 12 and above, and the cost is $10, which includes lunch and childcare. Register at ebenezerumc.org/wellness or call 540-659-1349 for more information.

Boundaries Book Study

Understanding how to establish and maintain healthy boundaries can help you find balance in challenging relationships and thrive in all areas of life. Beginning April 13 at 7:00 PM, Christian Counselor Keith Priest will lead a 9-week study of Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life by Dr. John Townsend and Dr. Henry Cloud at Ebenezer Church in Stafford. This study explores what the Bible says about boundaries and how to implement them. Not sure if this class is for you? Ask yourself these questions: Do you have problems saying no? Can you set limits and still be a loving person? Are you in control of your life? Do others take advantage of you? If you’re not at peace with your answers, consider joining us. Together, we’ll address these concerns so we can reflect more of Jesus’ love into the world, while learning that it’s okay to love ourselves by establishing boundaries. For more information, visit ebenezerumc.org/boundaries or call 540-659-1349.
